Ruke Bai is currently a Professor of Polymer Chemistry in Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in polymer chemistry from USTC in 1978 and 1984 respectively, and his Ph.D. from Institute of Chemistry Chinese Academy of Science in 1989. He joined the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering in USTC in 1989 as a Lecturer and then became an Associate Professor in 1995. In 2002, he was promoted to be a Full Professor. He once did research at Waseda University and Tokyo University as a visiting scholar in 1989, 1992, 1996, and 1998 respectively.

  He is one of the authors of the textbook Polymer Chemistry and Syllabus of Graduate Entrance Examination in Chemistry, which both was published in 1997 and 2001 by USTC Press. The textbook Polymer Chemistry won the Second-Class Award of Campus Excellent Books in 2001.
