Writings on research and researchers

"Physics is not a finished logical system. Rather, at any moment it spans a great confusion of ideas, some that survive like fold epics from the heroic periods of the past, and others that arise like utopian novels from our dim premonitions of a future grand synthesis." Steven Weinberg, Gravitation and Cosmology

About

This page is created by Yang Li to provide information on research on theoretical & computational physics for beginners. This page is still under construction. Stay tuned.

Introduction to scientific research

research cycles Researchers from social sciences and scientists themselves have long been interested in the activity of scientific research. While many great theories have been proposed, researchers do not completely agree with each other on the precise process of scientific research. My goal here is more modest. I would like to provide a portal for beginners based on my personal experience, so that they know what they will need and expect along their path forward. My introduction is restricted to theoretical and computational physics for obvious reasons. Fortunately, many great physicists have written their experiences, which I benefit greatly. I provide the links in the end.

For most practical purpose, publications will be the products of our work, though not the final ones. So, I outlined the process of a publication in the figure on the left.
