Cong, Shuang was born in 1961 in Anhui, P.R. China. She received her B.S. degree in Automatic Control from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1982, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in system engineering from University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy, in 1993 and 1995, respectively. She worked in control division of Hefei National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (HESYRL) from 1985 to 1989 as the Assistant Engineer, and she did the three years research fellow in National Institute of Nuclear Physics in Frascati (INFN-LNF), Italy, from 1989 as Engineer. Since 1995, she has been with the Automation Department of University of Science and Technology of China, during which, she did the post-doctoral from 1996/4 to 1998/4. Now she is the Professor. She was the winner of "Scientific Diligent foreign Collaboration Scholar" of INFN in 1994, and the “Scholarship of Italian Government” in 1995. Her research interests include advanced control strategies for motion control, fuzzy logic control, neural network applications, sliding mode control, repetitive control, genetic algorithms, quantum system control and so on. Since 1996, she has been teaching the course “Artificial Neural Networks” for undergraduate students, and the courses “Adaptive Control” and “Intelligent System” for graduated students.
