Biography

Xiaoyan Sun joined the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) at the end of 2019. Prior to joining USTC, she was a Senior Researcher with Microsoft Research Asia. Her research interests include computer vision, image/video processing, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Prof. Sun has authored or co-authored over 100 publications in journals and conferences, 10 proposals to standards with one accepted, and hosts over 10 granted US patients. She was a recipient of the Best Paper Award of the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology in 2009 and the Best Student Paper Award of VCIP 2016. Dr. Sun is a TC member of IEEE MSA (Multimedia Systems & Applications), Senior Editorial Board for the IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems, and AE of Signal Processing: Image Communication. She also served as session chair, area chair, and TC co-chair of several international conferences.

Xiaoyan Sun received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 1997, 1999, and 2003, respectively. She has been an intern in Microsoft Research Asia since 2000 and joined Microsoft Research Asia later in 2003. She was an adjunct professor (PhD advisor) of the University of Science and Technology of China (2015-2019) and guest professor of Beijing University of Technology (2015-2017).

孙晓艳，中国科学技术大学电子工程与信息科学系教授、博士生导师，国家级特聘专家。在加入中国科学技术大学之前，曾历任微软亚洲研究院研究员、主管研究员、资深研究员。主要研究方向包括：计算机视觉，图像、视频编码与处理、机器学习、人工智能等。曾担任相关领域十余个著名国际会议和顶级国际期刊的技术委员、编委、评审等职务，包括IEEE JETCAS高级编委（Senior Editorial Board）和Signal Processing: Image Communication期刊的领域编辑（Area editor），并于2014年当选为 IEEE MSA（Multimedia Systems & Applications）技术委员会委员。已发表学术论文100余篇，美国专利10余项，曾荣获IEEE TCSVT 2009年最佳期刊论文奖, VCIP 2016国际会议最佳学生论文奖，国家技术发明二等奖及北京市科学技术进步一等奖。曾担任中国科学技术大学和北京工业大学客座教授。
