Zhaoxiang
Deng received his Bachelor's degree in 1995, Ph.D. in 2000, both
from University of Science and Technology of China (Hefei, China),
which defines him as a chemist. During his Ph.D. study, his research
activities were concentrated on nanosecond-resolved voltammetry
and computer simulation of electrochemical problems. After completing
all his degrees, he had two years' postdoctoral experience on nanostructured
inorganic phases at Tsinghua University (Beijing, China). From October
of 2002, he was a postdoctoral research associate at Purdue University
with his research interest shifted to DNA nanotechnology including
DNA assisted nanofabrication and DNA directed self-assembly. In
June of 2005, he joined the chemistry department at University of
Science and Technology of China as a full professor. Zhaoxiang Deng
has authored or coauthored over 50 papers on peer-reviewed journals
spanning the areas of DNA nanotechnology, inorganic nanostructures
and electrochemistry.
Current research
interests
Research in our group is highly
interdisciplinary, which covers physical and analytical aspects
of chemistry, bio-nanotechnology, material sciences, and even more.
We are taking advantage of cutting-edge bio-techniques, synthetic
chemistry and molecular self-assembly toward building functional
nanosystems, which can have appealing optical, electronic, catalytic
or electrochemical properties and are now seeing more and more important
applications including analytical sensors. We are also interested
in using bio-inspired processes and electrochemical approaches to
develop new tools for nanotechnological applications. Finally, our
research efforts are directed toward probing the basic physics and
chemistry of nano-structured interfaces. Positions
are available for Ph.D. students and postdoc scientists, click
