Dong Liu received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees, both in electrical engineering, from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), in 2004 and 2009, respectively.
He joined the Department of Electronic Engineering and Information Science (EEIS) of USTC, as an Associate Professor in tenure-track in 2012. He was a Member of Research Staff at Nokia Research Center, Beijing, from 2009 to 2012. He had visited Microsoft Research Asia from July 2005 to July 2008, and from December 2015 to August 2016, respectively.
Dong Liu received the 2009 IEEE TCSVT Best Paper Award and the VCIP 2016 Best 10% Paper Award. He and his team won 5 challenges including the MM 2018 Challenge on Content-Based Video Relevance Prediction, the CVPR 2018 Challenge on Spectral Reconstruction from RGB Images, the ECCV 2018 Challenge on Spectral Image Super-Resolution, the ICME 2016 Grand Challenge on Light-Field Image Compression, and Second Place of the PCSJ/IMPS 2018 Water Bottom Video Challenge. He has co-authored 100+ papers in journals and international conferences, which were cited 900+ times according to Google Scholar (h-index is 15). He has 15 granted patents and 1 technique proposal adopted by AVS. His current research interests include image and video coding, multimedia signal processing and data mining.
