Research Area

Revealing the reaction kinetics of the C4Hx hydrocarbons that forms the foundational fuel chemistry, mainly using theoretical methods including RRKM/Master Equation and kinetic modeling. Efforts have been made to i) reveal new reaction pathways and explain the experimental observation from the molecular level; ii) provide temperature (T) and pressure (P) dependent rate coefficients for important combustion reactions; and iii) show the influence of the T-, P- dependent kinetic data on the model prediction ability of ignition and PAH formation. In addition to probing the C4 chemistry, exploration on how the uncertainty propagates on RRKM/ME calculation is achieved to help evaluate the uncertainty of the calculated data as well as providing insights for choosing proper quantum chemistry methods.
