Shan, Ge

            The lab is interested in the function and regulation of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs). ncRNAs play essential and many known and unknown roles in animal development, cellular processes, diseases, and epigenetics. We utilize models such as C. elegans, mammalian cell cultures, and mice to explore roles of ncRNAs. We pay particular attention to the possible regulation of gene expression by environmental ncRNAs and specific ncRNAs (e.g. antisense RNAs and circular RNAs), and functions of ncRNAs in cellular and animal physiology.
