(2017.2) I am back to USTC!
(2016.2-2017.2) I am visiting in UC Berkeley!
I am an associated professor in University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). I got my PhD degree and B.S degree from USTC, respectively in 2006 and 2001. Since 2006, I have been working in School of Information Science and Technoloyg, USTC. In 2011.3-2011.11, I was nominated to join the “STARTRACKER” project of Microsoft Research of Asia (MSRA), and worked on sparse representation & object recognition in visual computing group as a vendor researcher (host by Prof. Yi Ma). During 2012.2-2013.2, I was a visiting research scholar of EECS Department in University of California at Berkeley (host by Prof. S.Shankar Sastry), and worked on object recognition in the Trust & Chess Center with Prof. S.Shankar Sastry and Dr. Allen Y. Yang.
My research interests include object recognition, machine learning, and image retrieval. Currently, I am working on the following topics:
Robust Object Recogntion via Sparse Representation & Low Rank Structure
Our goal is to develop new robust, scalable methods for object recognition based on new high-dimensional mathematical tools, such as sparse representation & low rank matrix recovery. Especially, I am interested in using these new tools to solve the pose problem in face recognition. This project is supported by two NSFC funds and the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities.
Large scale topic model learning for social media data analysis
Our goal is to develop new machine learning tools for large scale social media data analysis. This project is supported by a NSFC-MSRA joint fund.
